We found the end of the West Highland Way! Even though we only did part of the walk we still needed to see the end. We would have approached this spot on Sunday, tomorrow, if we didn’t get such horrible blisters. Next time we do the walk we will know how to do it properly by staying in hotels along the way and carrying light packs only with walking sticks. A day break should also be taken at some point. I think with that new strategy the walk would be more enjoyable and less torture to complete. Just a note to self there. Already thinking about next time!
Strawberry Pimms. Have yet to find one of these in the States. Yum. One of my absolute favorites. Have to get one ever time.
Made it back to Fort William today where the weather was beautiful, sunny and warm! Just spent the day relaxing at the park sipping coffee and having some veggies. Went to a nice pub for dinner and had a veggie burger- a nice switch from peanut butter on bread and cliff bars :) this trip has been pretty relaxing the past few days. I’m definitely liking Fort William quite a bit. It seems like a place I would love to live someday. It’s small, but not too small like some of the towns along the Way and it has so many outdoors events to do- kayaking, boating, running, biking, mountain climbing, hiking, swimming, ….the list goes on. It seems everyone we meet here does at least one of those. Fort William has a nice charm to it. So laid back. Calming….
Dave and I along the river on a sunny day in Scotland.
Park with the playground.
Stream along the path this morning.
Today in Inverness was a very relaxing day. In the morning, we took a stroll along the river on the Great Glen Way, another hiking path in Scotland. The path had an interesting Nessie tree that someone had painted (see above). We found a park with a playground, too! Of course we had to stop there. Luckily, there weren’t many people there to observe my inner child. …afterwards, we went to a cafe and wandered around town. The day was much nicer today- the sun was shining - I actually had to wear sunglasses, which Is an abnormal thing to do here, and the temperature was much warmer.
Near the castle in Inverness.
